2020 Belongs to Nature!

Dear Mother Nature, why such a start to 2020?

She replied,

I gave alarm calls, you didn’t hear
Fires roasted forests, wildlife cried, you didn’t hear
Plastic choked the sea life, they cried, you didn’t hear

I watched quietly,
For the responsibility you had to bear

But,
When kids couldn’t breathe
When they traveled across the seas
You turned deaf to their voices

Instead,
You continued with your wars, your power greed

It’s my wake up call, slow down
Or I shall keep you in your sky-high ‘bunkers’

You show no respect to land, air or waters
I shall show no respect to your political will, science or borders

I cried yesterday
I cry today

All because of you,
acquisitive, reckless soul

You didn’t learn from the fossilized life
Those rocky prints of deadly beasts

Remember, the fittest don’t survive every time

LIFE EXISTED BEFORE YOU,

 IT WILL, AFTER YOU!
